What is Dorn Therapy?
Dorn Therapy is a gentle manual treatment method for the musculoskeletal system. It uses targeted, gentle movements to help the body regain its natural mobility and alignment.
Dorn Therapy was developed in 1975 by Dieter Dorn and is used today as a gentle method to address functional issues of the musculoskeletal system.
What conditions can Dorn Therapy help with?
Dorn therapy is particularly suitable as a supportive treatment for functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system, such as:
- Back pain in the upper, middle, or lower back
- Lumbago
- Neck tension and neck pain
- Shoulder and arm pain
- Sacroiliac joint (SI) blockages
- Pelvic misalignment
- Functional leg length discrepancy
- Hip complaints
- Knee pain
- Foot and ankle complaints
- Tension in the shoulder and back area
- Restricted movement of the spine
- Postural problems
- Muscle imbalances
- Tension headaches, provided they are related to muscular or functional causes
Many patients report an improved sense of well-being, greater mobility, and a feeling of relief after treatment.
How does Dorn therapy work?
Every person has different physical conditions, symptoms, and needs. That is why every treatment begins with a personal consultation and a careful assessment of your individual situation.
Together, we’ll discuss your concerns and determine which treatment is best for you. My goal is to treat you with expertise and care and to tailor the therapy to your personal needs.
To prepare, the tissues are loosened using targeted techniques from classical massage, and the muscles are readied for the subsequent treatment. Dorn therapy involves gentle pressure techniques and active movements, gently supporting the joints and spine in their natural range of motion.
A treatment session typically lasts 60 minutes. Whether additional appointments are recommended depends on your symptoms, your personal needs, and the progress of the treatment. Depending on your specific concerns, even a single treatment can provide valuable relief.
At the end of the session, you’ll receive personalized tips and simple exercises to help you maintain your mobility in daily life and become more aware of your body.
A Holistic Approach to Your Health
Our bodies function as a single unit. Ailments often don’t arise in just one specific area, but are the result of various physical interrelationships—such as uneven strain, poor posture, stress, or prolonged sitting.
That’s why I consider not only your current symptoms, but also your entire musculoskeletal system and your individual situation. Every treatment is carefully tailored to your personal needs.
The goal is to release tension, promote mobility, and support the body’s natural functions so that you can once again move as freely and comfortably as possible in your daily life.
FAQ
How long does a treatment session last?
A treatment session usually lasts 60 minutes. We set aside plenty of time for the initial consultation to carefully discuss your symptoms, medical history, and personal needs, so please plan to allow a little extra time.
How many treatment sessions are typically recommended?
That depends on your symptoms and your individual situation. Some patients experience relief after just one session, while others may benefit from several appointments. Together, we’ll discuss the next steps in your treatment and decide on a personalized plan that’s right for you.
Are the costs covered by health insurance?
I am EMR-certified for Dorn Therapy (Method 42) and classical massage (Method 33). Many supplemental insurance plans cover part of the treatment costs. Since coverage varies depending on your insurance provider and plan, I recommend that you check with your health insurance provider directly to confirm coverage before your treatment.
What should I bring to my appointment?
If available, please bring any relevant medical reports or test results. This will help me assess your situation more accurately.
Is Dorn therapy painful?
Dorn therapy is a gentle manual treatment method. Corrections are made using gentle pressure techniques and active movements. During treatment, individual areas may feel sensitive for a short time, but severe pain is not the goal of the treatment. The intensity is always adjusted to your personal comfort level.
