What is Dorn therapy?
Dorn therapy is a gentle, manual method for treating vertebral and joint blockages. It was developed in 1975 by Dieter Dorn (1938–2011).
The aim of Dorn therapy is to align the body from the bottom up. Since the body’s statics run from the feet through the legs, pelvis, and spine to the head, the treatment is carried out in exactly this order.
This so-called “constructive sequence” is of fundamental importance. A complete Dorn therapy covers all the joints of the body.
How does Dorn therapy work?
The therapy is based on the knowledge that even slightly displaced vertebrae can cause chronic complaints – especially in the back and buttocks.
The therapist:
-
corrects differences in leg length
-
gently presses displaced vertebrae and joints back into their natural position
The therapist works exclusively with their hands – no medication or aids are used.
Blocked vertebrae are corrected with targeted thumb pressure while the patient performs certain movements. This active participation is an essential part of Dorn therapy.
In addition, the patient is given special self-help exercises to perform daily at home in order to stabilize and improve the treatment results.
What does Dorn therapy help with?
Dorn therapy can help with:
-
back and buttock pain
-
joint blockages
-
leg length differences
-
tension
-
static misalignments
When muscles are loosened and vertebrae and joints are back in their natural position, not only does the body relax—mental well-being often benefits as well.
